Why Black Business Owners Have a Customer Service Problem and Who Actually Created It
Black-owned businesses have a reputation. You have heard it. The attitudes. The slow service. The "why are they acting like that" conversations people have on the way home. And instead of asking why, everybody just accepts it as a character flaw. It is not. It is a wound.
Black Americans pay more for everything. Higher interest rates on business loans. Higher insurance premiums. Higher fees from suppliers who know you have fewer options. Landlords who charge you more because they know your alternatives are limited. Banks that deny your applications at twice the rate of everyone else. By the time a Black business owner opens their doors, they are already operating at a deficit that was designed before they filed their first piece of paperwork. That cost has to go somewhere. It goes to the customer. And when the customer pushes back, the owner who is already exhausted, already overcharged, already overlooked, snaps. Not because they do not care. Because they are running on empty and have been for years.
Then add this. Every few days another Black person is killed on camera. Another name. Another hashtag. Another news cycle that replays the moment of death over and over like it is entertainment. And we are supposed to go open our shops the next morning and smile. We are supposed to answer the phone with warmth and patience while carrying grief that nobody acknowledges and trauma that never gets to heal. Survival mode is not a personality trait. It is the result of being under constant threat with no break and no support and no end in sight.
BOB Academy does not ignore this. We name it. We teach customer service inside the full context of what Black business owners are actually carrying. We do not tell you to smile harder. We teach you how to build systems, scripts, and boundaries that protect your business and your peace at the same time. We teach you how to separate your survival response from your customer experience without pretending the survival response is not valid. We teach your staff the same thing. Because your team is carrying it too.

HOW IT WORKS
You complete the full BOB Academy curriculum. You apply your training to your actual business and show results. You apply for Alumni status and go through our facilitator certification process. Then you are cleared to lead BOB groups in your city, your neighborhood, your church, your organization, or anywhere Black entrepreneurs gather and need what you now have.
You are not starting from scratch. You get everything.
